After a rather tough 2021-22 season that saw Kevin Durant carry a ton of load for the Brooklyn Nets, general manager Sean Marks doesn't want to put any more burden to their superstar.

That is why Marks won't be going to Durant and ask him for his opinion on every free agent, highlighting that it is his job to do anyway at the end of the day. However, the Nets superstar forward will still be aware and updated of the team's plans and any roster addition they will make.

“But at the end of the day, I mean more often than not, it’s myself making those decisions,” Marks said, per Associated Press. “It’s not me going to Kevin and saying: ‘Do you want this person? Do you want that person? Do you want that guy?’ I don’t think that’s fair to place that on Kevin.

“Now, is he surprised by anything? Absolutely not, because he will know ahead of time what we’re doing, what we plan on doing with, to be honest with the entire roster.”

The Nets have a lot of questions to answer in the offseason, which is why it's not surprising Sean Marks and the front office do not want to give that extra workload and burden to Kevin Durant.

Aside from potential roster changes, there is the issue of Kyrie Irving and whether the team should trade him or not. While the superstar guard doesn't want to go anywhere, Marks and co. still want to see if he can really commit to the team following the past campaign's drama.

Brooklyn knows very well that whatever they do this offseason will have a long-term impact on Durant's career, so they will have to tread carefully and make sure their best player is happy.
