Brooklyn Nets All-Star Kevin Durant recently joined Hot 97 FM in New York for a wide-ranging interview. Amid their discussion, the former No. 2 overall pick was asked to comment on the Knicks' inability to attract star players.

Simply put, Durant feels that the Knicks “aren't cool enough” right now:

“It's hard to get the best players,” The Nets star said in his interview with Hot 97. “I think a lot of fans look at the Knicks as a brand. They look at these younger players, who in their lifetime don't remember the Knicks being good.

“I didn't grow up with the Knicks, but I saw them in the Finals,” Durant added. “Kids coming up after me didn't see that. So that whole brand isn't as cool to them as the Golden State Warriors or even the Lakers or Nets now.

“The cool thing right now is not the Knicks,” Durant said in closing.

Durant joined the Nets over the summer, teaming up with Kyrie Irving. Unfortunately, though, Kevin is expected to miss much (if not all) of this season as he recovers from an Achilles injury.

There were some who thought Kevin Durant might give New York a look this summer, but he and Irving ultimately chose to pair up in Brooklyn.

Whether New York is cool or not doesn't really make a difference. However, one thing that will matter for the team in this campaign is improvement, as they finished with the worst mark in the Eastern Conference last season (17-65).
