Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant didn't take kindly the idea that youth basketball in the US is broken, especially when it comes to skill development.

On Twitter, someone pointed out that the “US model of basketball is broken in regards to youth skill development” as it is focused more on rankings, adding that Giannis Antetokounmpo, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic “probably could have cared less about rankings or even known there were.”

Upon seeing the post, Durant couldn't help but fire back and refute the claim. Being a product of the US basketball system, the Nets star had to point out that Giannis was able to develop further when he trained in the US. With that said, it just doesn't make sense for anyone to point out that the European system is better than the US.

While another one argued with Kevin Durant and shared that European basketball is doing something right given that it has produced the likes of Doncic and Jokic, the Nets leader boldly declared that “there's nothing there” and the US has some of the best basketball trainers in the world.

For what it's worth, it's easy to see where Durant is coming from. The US has dominated the world basketball stage, and while they lose from time to time, they are still the gold standard when it comes to basketball.

However, it might also be wrong to say that there is nothing players can get from European basketball, or any other sources for that matter. After all, there are several other great players who came from outside the US and dominated.
