The Knicks and Nets are never far away. Brooklyn Nets superstar small forward Kevin Durant was a guest during the Washington Football Team's Welcome Home Luncheon on Wednesday, and he talked about his excitement to make his Nets debut in 2020-21.

Durant, who missed the entire 2019-20 season for the Nets recovering from the Achilles tear he suffered in Game 5 of the 2019 Finals, subtly shaded the New York Knicks by saying “New York basketball is definitely looking for a team to support.”

“We've got a new, fresh team with me, Kyrie Irving, DeAndre Jordan, Spencer Dinwiddie, a lot of guys on our team that our veterans,” Kevin Durant said, via Ethan Cadeaux of NBC Sports Washington.

“I'm excited. It should be a fun time. New York basketball is definitely looking for a team to support. We're going to come out there and play hard every single night and play exciting basketball.”

The Knicks thought they were going to get Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving in the summer of 2019, as the franchise had cap space for two superstars.

However, not only did the Knicks not even get a meeting with Durant or Irving, but they had to watch the two stars sign with the other team in New York City, the Nets.

The Nets will likely be title contenders in 2020-21, while the Knicks will probably miss the playoffs again. The Knicks haven't had a winning record or made the postseason since 2012-13.

Nets fans can't wait to watch Durant play in a Brooklyn uniform. The two-time Finals MVP and future Hall of Famer is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history and is likely motivated to get back on top after missing an entire campaign.
