Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving has been diagnosed with a left side facial fracture and is listed as day-to-day as the team approaches training camp, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Irving suffered the injury when taking part of team workouts, as he was hit with an inadvertent elbow. The injury was cause for concern at first, as head coach Kenny Atkinson was forced to sit out the opening press conference of the season to jump to his aid.

This is far from the first time Irving has suffered a shot to the mug, as he's already had to wear a face mask more than once in his career — something he will likely have to do again before engaging in the upcoming training camp as the preseason nears.

Irving last wore his famed black mask in Nov. 2017 after first trying to play with a clear mask, but to no avail — ultimately switching back to the popular black one that had gained plenty of popularity during his days in Cleveland.

The legend of the black mask started after he broke his jaw in Dec. 2012, returning with the infamous piece of facial gear to hang 41 points on the New York Knicks upon returning to the court.

The Nets will hope to have Irving ready for the start of the season, as their playoff hopes likely hinge on his health, now with the announcement that Kevin Durant will sit out for the full stretch of the regular season.
