Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving made quite a few revelations during a recent podcast guesting. From once going 1-on-1 with former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James to explaining the truth behind his Cavs exit, Kyrie got brutally honest with his statements in the interview.

One of the moments that stood out during the lengthy discussion was when the Nets star expressed his regret about leaving LeBron and the Cavs. Kyrie admitted that he was not mature enough at that point in time to realize that what he had with James was truly something special. According to Irving, he would have probably stayed in Cleveland if he had the wisdom he now possesses:

“If I was in the same maturity line and understanding of who I am [now], and I look back, we definitely, definitely would've won more championships,” Irving said (h/t Brad Botkin of CBS Sports). “Because there would've been a better man-to-man understanding [with LeBron] about what I'm going through. I didn't know how to share my emotions. I didn't know how to do that. So instead of sharing, I isolated myself.”

It's pretty commendable for Irving to make this kind of admission. For the Nets star to admit that he made certain mistakes early on in his career shows just how much he has matured through the years.

Kyrie also admitted that he was not able to properly discuss his exit with LeBron. It also seems that the Nets star is hinting that perhaps James could have swayed his decision to leave had there been a better line of communication between them:

“We didn't talk during that time,” Irving said. “When I look back on what I was going through at that time, I wish I did [talk to LeBron], because it would've been a good understanding of what the future will hold for both of us and we know how much power we both had together. Me and him in the league together running Cleveland, and then being able to put a better team together every single year would've definitely been worth it.”

This is all water under the bridge now and we can never know how many titles LeBron and Kyrie would have won if they stayed together in Cleveland. Then again, these two could still reunite somewhere down the road, right?
