Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving recently returned to another hobby of his and sought inspiration from one of his idols in the late Kobe Bryant. He used the lyrics of his unreleased rap original piece to pay homage to the Los Angeles Lakers legend and his daughter Gianna, via Heavy.

“We’re rocking with the ancestors, I’m doing what I’m supposed to do. I’m painting lifes canvas, I’m moving like an artist. Similar to my to my progress, I’m on a team full of martyrs. Paradise is Mamba, throwing peace to Gianna.”

In the video posted on Twitter, Kyrie Irving tagged Jeremiah Green who was his former St. Patrick’s High School teammate and is also the producer for the single, as per Heavy. Green, who goes by the stage name Jerry GQ, has already amassed significant experience in the music industry as he previously worked together with Grammy Award-winning producer Jahlil Beats.

The former Duke standout in Irving was one of the players who were heavily affected by the passing of Kobe Bryant and his daughter, among others, back in late January of 2020. Irving looked up to Bryant as one of his mentors and also shared numerous battles on the court when the former was still a player for the Cleveland Cavaliers while the latter is already in the twilight zone of his career back then.

In an interview made several days after Bryant's passing, Kyrie Irving assured that he is looking forward to seeing and playing against his idol back on a basketball court again in the future.
