The Kyrie Irving-era with the Brooklyn Nets is off to a flying start for Uncle Drew.

Irving’s 163 points are the most ever scored by a Nets player through the team’s first five games of a season, breaking the record which was previously held by Vince Carter, per Anthony Puccio of Nets Daily:

The Nets are 2-3 on the young season after defeating James Harden, Russell Westbrook and the Houston Rockets on Friday. Irving is averaging 32.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.0 assists on the season while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 43.8 percent from beyond the arc and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line.

He's no doubt mercurial, but Irving is one of the best players in the game and puts on a show every night. Since Nets superstar Kevin Durant will miss the entire season recovering from his Achilles tear, Brooklyn will ultimately go as far as Irving can take them.

The Nets take on the Detroit Pistons on Saturday, a game they should easily win. Detroit is still without All-Star power forward Blake Griffin and point guard Derrick Rose is questionable to play with a hamstring injury.

The Pistons, like the Nets, also played on Friday, losing to the Chicago Bulls despite getting 23 points and seven assists from Rose off the bench.
