Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving isn't exactly the most universally liked personality in the world — he isn't necessarily everybody's cup of tea. Some people have criticized Irving in the past, including former NBA center Kendrick Perkins.

The unfiltered Nets playmaker recently joined Kevin Durant's podcast and gave his honest thoughts on the “bird brain” comment Perkins made a couple of months ago.

To recall, this is what Big Perk said:

“If you take Kyrie Irving’s brain and put it in a bird right now, guess what that bird is going to do? It’s going to fly backwards. Because Kyrie right now, he’s confused,” Perkins said of the Nets star. “He’s showing his lack of leadership.

Those may be some heavy-hitting words from Kendrick Perkins, but Kyrie Irving acknowledged that he still respects the elder's opinion. The All-Star also admitted he takes the criticism seriously.

In relation, Kyrie went on to make a spiel about how there's so much more than basketball.

Irving is known as one of the more vocal players around the NBA. He's not afraid to speak his mind about everything, from social injustices to his status as a player. In fact, the Nets guard was one of the players who strongly opposed the restart of the 2019-20 season due to the ongoing social climate in the United States.

Irving initially drew several criticisms from his peers, including Perkins. However, people soon began to appreciate the his take after players chose to boycott their playoff games in response to the shooting of Jacob Blake.
