On Tuesday night, Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving reminded basketball fans why he is regarded by many to be one of the most talented players to ever lace them up in the NBA. Irving dropped 50 points in Brooklyn's 132-121 win over the Charlotte Hornets. In the process, Irving accomplished something that only Michael Jordan ever had before.

Irving joined Jordan as the only guards in NBA history to score 50 or more points on 75 percent or better shooting. Irving finished with exactly 50 points, on 15 for 19 shooting. It's potentially even more remarkable that Irving scored so much on only 19 shots.

He knocked down nine of his 12 shots from downtown. He also hit 11 of 13 free throws in the win. Irving also chipped in with six assists and three boards.

Irving has faced a lot of criticism for a number of things off the court. Years ago, he was ridiculed for his belief that the Earth was not round. Irving eventually conceded that it is in fact, round.

He has been very outspoken on his stance on the COVID-19 vaccine. Irving is still unable to play home games in Brooklyn because of his refusal to get the vaccine. But his ability on the court has never much been in question. Players like Andre Iguodala have even heaped enough praise to raise eyebrows.

Iguodala is a believer that Irving is a top-20 player all-time, at least.

Maybe the greatest moment of Kyrie's career was hitting the game-winning shot of Game 7 on the 2016 NBA Finals. It was Irving's one and only NBA championship, but it was a sweet one. He, along with LeBron James, became the only team ever to overcome a 3-1 series deficit to win the NBA title.
