As it turns out, Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is a huge Michael Jordan fan. Nope, not the Chicago Bulls GOAT, but Michael B. Jordan the Hollywood actor.

Irving recently caught wind of Jordan's latest hoops project, the Hoop Dreams Classic, and the Nets point guard shared his excitement about it via Instagram:

Jordan's camp recently announced they were launching this new basketball initiative aimed to showcase Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) and their respective basketball programs. In a recent statement, the “Black Panther” actor shared what motivated him to start said initiative:

“This past year has been the tipping point for so many, including myself, in revving up support for Black people,” Jordan said in a statement, via Michael LoRe of Forbes. “As a Newark native, I am committed to bringing change to the community and am honored to be able to present The Hoop Dreams Classic as a way to celebrate the value of community, education, and Black college experiences. Through our shared love of basketball, I look forward to bringing the communal spirit of HBCUs to the city that helped shape me into the man I am today.”

Irving himself has been a staunch supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, so it comes as no surprise that he's going all in on Jordan's latest project. It wouldn't be surprising if the Nets star provides some form of contribution toward this praiseworthy cause.

As for his basketball, Kyrie Irving made his preseason debut alongside Kevin Durant for the Nets on Sunday in a 119-114 win over the Washington Wizards. The six-time All-Star finished with a team-high 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting), one rebound, four dimes, a steal, a block, and zero turnovers in just 17 minutes of play.
