A James Harden blockbuster trade would certainly cause a domino effect not only within the league but also in the sports betting industry. BetOnline recently stated that they will be halting the tally of regular-season win projections for both the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets with the Harden trade seemingly still up in the air as of the moment.

“It was tricky this year to calculate Win Totals with the shortened season and I will admit some may be a touch off. We are really curious to see how some of these get bet,” said BetOnline SportsBook Manager Adam Burns. “We are not opening the Nets or Rockets Wins just yet as we’re still waiting on the Harden rumors, which would have a major impact of probably six wins for the Rockets.”
James Harden has reportedly expressed his desire to be shipped to the Net to join forces with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. Harden played together with Durant for the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2009 to 2012, while he also appeared in several Team USA stints with Irving.
Harden's departure from the Rockets would certainly force the team to settle in a rebuilding mode, while the Nets would increase their chances of winning more games in the coming season.
Last season, the Rockets garnered a 44-28 win-loss record and bowed out of contention as they succumbed to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Semifinals in five games. On the other hand, the Nets tallied a 35-37 standing and were eventually swept by the Toronto Raptors in first-round proceedings in the 2020 NBA Playoffs.
A James Harden trade would completely alter the fates of both the Rockets and Nets, and the coming days will see if any kind of deal will come into fruition between the two teams.
