The NBA recently advised teams that they will need to adhere to the respective mandates their cities may have with regards to the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine. New York and San Francisco are currently the two cities that have implemented said mandates, which might just put the Brooklyn Nets (as well as the New York Knicks and the Golden State Warriors) in quite a pickle.

Nets general manager Sean Marks has spoken out about how New York's vaccine mandate might have a significant impact on his team, and it appears that the high-ranking executive has just dropped a truth bomb on the vaccination status of his players:

“Regarding if they could play today, I can't comment on who could play and so forth,” Marks said Tuesday in the team's preseason news conference, via Tim Bontemps of ESPN. “There would obviously be a couple people missing from that picture.

“I won't get into who it is, but we feel confident in the following several days before camp everybody would be allowed to participate and so forth.”

The implementation of the mandate means that players who refuse to get the vaccine will be unable to play in their respective cities. That is, all unvaccinated Nets players won't be allowed to suit up for home games in the Barclays Center.

Marks is well aware of the implications of the mandate, and based on his admission above, it is clear that there are “a couple” of players that have yet to get the vaccine. Marks was confident, however, that the issue will be resolved prior to the start of the regular season. He did not expound on how they intend to address the problem, but it does appear that the Nets will be able to find some sort of solution sooner rather than later.
