The Brooklyn Nets shocked the NBA world by acquiring two legitimate stars in the Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. Overshadowed in the acquisition is the signing of DeAndre Jordan, who will join the team on a four-year, $40 million contract. Adding Jordan was an interesting move by the Nets, who already have a dominant young center in Jarrett Allen who plays much as Jordan does.

The Nets' 2017 first-round pick is a high-energy rim runner and a brick wall defensively, just like Jordan's. While Allen is the younger player with the higher ceiling, Nets head coach Sean Marks couldn't commit to starting him. Marks spoke on the starting battle and Jordan's influence on Allen.

“This is a competitive environment. You go and you earn it, you earn the spot.” The GM complimented Allen, a third-year player, for playing in Summer League and said he could also learn about the game from Jordan. “For him to learn from a guy like DeAndre – DeAndre has shown, even in his time in New York, that he's willing and able to nurture and really help the progression of some guys.”

We'll have to wait until the regular season starts to see who Marks eventually goes with. Either way, when Durant comes back healthy whatever center he chooses will help form a powerful trio with Irving and KD.
