With Kevin Durant injured, Brooklyn Nets fans might have to live a season with Carmelo Anthony running it alongside Kyrie Irving.

Recent reports have surfaced that Melo impressed the higher-ups at Brooklyn with his workouts. They are considering signing him as Durant likely won't be available until the 2020-21 campaign. Moreover, both Durant and Kyrie reportedly want Anthony to be on the team in the upcoming 2019-20 season.

Understandably, plenty of NBA fans are happy with the recent development. In a recent Undisputed episode, sports analyst Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe raved about how the Melo-Nets partnership would be perfect for the two parties.

One of Bayless' arguments for the move being great is that Durant, Kyrie and Melo don't have to share the basketball. Carmelo's stops in OKC and Houston proved that three supreme scorers that need the ball often in their hands will never work out well.

With Durant going to be out for the season due to his Achilles, there are only two volume shooters on the team. There's no question that Melo can provide 15 to 20 points a night, numbers that could definitely win basketball games.

However, Sharpe emphasized an important point that Melo must understand.

“What I want to think is for them to define Carmelo's role before he gets there. Let him know what they expect of him from an offensive standpoint,” Sharpe said. “You can't come in thinking you're the Nuggets Carmelo or the Knicks Carmelo. You're at a different stage of your life now and you need to fit a role. You're a role player, not the player.”
