There has been a lot of talk regarding the big splash that the Brooklyn Nets made during the first day of free agency, landing Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeAndre Jordan to four-year deals that helped turn them from a rebuilding team to a championship contender. But what most people immediately forgot about the team is their core of rising stars, including Jarrett Allen. Last season, Allen averaged 10.9 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.5 steals. He also shot close to 60 percent from the field, which made him an effective big man, especially when he's around the painted area. There is no doubt that the 21-year-old is on the rise, and according to his teammate Spencer Dinwiddie, he's going to be an All-Star in the future.

It's not impossible for Allen to achieve that goal, especially since he's playing in the Eastern Conference. The only prominent big men playing there are Joel Embiid, Blake Griffin, Andre Drummond, and Nikola Vucevic. If he will show a significant amount of improvement next season, he might get serious consideration from the rest of the league.

Of course, that could be a tall task for Allen. especially since there's a strong chance that he could come off the bench after Jordan signed a four-year $40 million deal with the team.

Allen showed tons of potential last season, and one can argue that next season could be his breakout year. If he does end up being an All-Star, that will be good for Brooklyn because it is a sign that their young core has the potential to be great after Durant and Irving's era with the team is over.
