Brooklyn Nets combo guard Spencer Dinwiddie envisions a rather interesting role change for himself this season.

Dinwiddie was often the team's primary scorer, playmaker and shot creator with Kyrie Irving out for chunks of the season.

However, with Irving and a healthy Kevin Durant rejoining the rotation, Dinwiddie is prepared to adapt.

The 27-year-old suggested he will play a role similar to the one Draymond Green has played for championship Warriors teams in terms of plugging holes and being a glue guy:

“If we're gonna liken ourselves to Golden State, the glue — the multipurpose utility guy,” Dinwiddie said, via Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News.

Brooklyn should be quite pleased to learn Dinwiddie is open to doing whatever the team needs from him this season. That goes without saying, but is especially imperative in Dinwiddie's case.

Dinwiddie is in the final year of his current contract. He could just as easily be intent on getting his shots and attempting to boost his own market ahead of free agency, particularly considering Dinwiddie averaged 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds last year.

Moreover, Dinwiddie was seen as a possible trade candidate this offseason, in part because he's on an expiring and the Nets have a host of backcourt assets.

However, it appears Dinwiddie is willing to make sacrifices if it means the Nets will win, and many are expecting them to do a whole lot of that this year. He certainly doesn't want a trade:

Brooklyn barely made the playoffs this past season. But with a healthy duo of Durant and Irving leading the way and a new head coach in Steve Nash, the Nets are expected to make a move in the Eastern Conference.

Dinwiddie's ability to be a third fiddle will likely play a large part in any move up the standings.
