Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving once again made headlines when he came out with controversial comments in a recent press conference. ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith has spoken out about Irving's bigger-than-basketball attitude, and unsurprisingly, the outspoken TV personality was not happy about it.

Smith acknowledged the validity of Kyrie Irving's message pertaining to the bigger global issues that require more attention from the audience, but at the same time, the ESPN host absolutely put Kyrie on blast for his holier-than-thou attitude:

“We all care about that,” Smith started on a recent appearance on ESPN's First Take. “We don't want to see people dying. We don't want to see people struggling. We don't want to see people starving. Of course, particularly if you're Black. You have been ravaged by racism and prejudice and bigotry and being marginalized and minimized. We all go through that. This is not new to him. So when you sit up there and look at people and you say stuff like that, you're talking to other people and you're saying, ‘Well this might not be on your mind, but it's on my mind.'”

Smith does not see anything wrong with Kyrie's message. In fact, he completely agrees about the need to pay more attention to the problems that are going on in the world today. Nevertheless, Smith made sure to harshly remind Irving about his role as a superstar for the Brooklyn Nets:

“And the fact is you don't know. It's just that people may have jobs to do. Like you have a job to do. So while you're there, just do it. Do your job,” Smith added. “… Your job might actually be not just playing basketball but answering questions about it for 10 minutes.”

Smith is never once to mince words, and he made sure to share his unfiltered thoughts on Kyrie's recent comments here. This is definitely not the first time Stephen A. has criticized the Nets guard, and his recent tirade adds to a growing list of complaints about Irving and his one-of-a-kind attitude.
