The Brooklyn Nets are one of the NBA's most intriguing teams. They have yet to tap into their full potential because so many of their key players have been absent with injuries. It was a big reason why the team couldn't get much going with James Harden, why he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers and why the new-look Nets may not compete for a title this season.

Kevin Durant, Ben Simmons, Joe Harris, Goran Dragic and Kyrie Irving all appear on the Nets' injury report for varying reasons. Brooklyn's entire star trio dealing with issues is troubling for the team, who rode an 11-game losing streak way down the Eastern Conference standings and into eighth place.

Nets head coach Steve Nash provided some injury updates. One of them stuck out, as he said that Durant is closer to playing than Simmons is.

The Nets got a big update from New York City's mayor, Eric Adams. The city could be lifting its vaccine mandate soon, meaning Irving will no longer be a part-time player. Unfortunately, Harris' outlook is not so good. He may need another surgery on his ankle.

Sitll, Durant may not return from his knee injury right away. He got some shots up at practice but still needs to get up to speed again. While Simmons' time to get back into basketball shape may take longer than previously expected, the Nets could become a very good and fun team once — or more accurately, if — all their key players can get going.
