Kevin Durant has sat out the Brooklyn Nets' last four games due to a strained left hamstring and there's still no clear word on when he'll get back on the floor.

Nets fans, however, were treated with some uplifting news on Sunday when head coach Steve Nash said that the one-time NBA MVP's road to recovery is ahead of schedule.

“I don’t have an update. I think he’s progressing every day, though, and it’s really positive. I couldn’t tell you when his return is,” Nash said, per

“But I’d reiterate that we’re all optimistic and positive that he’s improving at a rapid rate and will be back soon.”

KD, of course, is in the midst of one of the greatest comeback seasons in league history with the Nets and their newly-upgraded roster after missing more than a year due to a serious Achilles injury.

Durant proved early on that he is still the same MVP-caliber superstar, with averages of 29 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, and 1.4 steals, while shooting 52.4 percent from the floor and 43.4 from deep in 19 games with the Nets and their star-powered roster .

Initial diagnosis showed that Durant's hamstring issue is considered mild and he should not be out for more than two weeks as the Nets try to move to the top of the Eastern Conference, which is entirely up for grabs given the dislocations in the conference during the pandemic and all the complications it has created for numerous teams such as the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics.

Then again, the Nets are being understandably cautious with the two-time NBA champion given the gravity of his recovery process last year.

Aside from taking the night off during back-to-backs, Durant has also been sidelined for three Nets games earlier due to the league's health and safety protocols. It was indeed one of the most bizarre situations the NBA has ever seen, as the 32-year-old scorer was yanked off the floor mid-game.

Durant returned for one game in Brooklyn's decisive win over the Los Angeles Lakers then complained about hamstring soreness afterward. Steve Nash is certainly not rushing to get KD back on the floor, but will certainly welcome him back to the floor for the Nets as long as he's 100 percent ready once more.
