Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving found himself an ally in teammate Wilson Chandler. Kyrie has come under fire recently over his controversial comments on the resumption of the 2019-20 NBA season.

While fans and pundits were quick to criticize Uncle Drew for trying to urge others to sit out the season, Chandler claimed that there was nothing wrong with Irving expressing his opinion.

Days after the league confirmed the mechanics behind their proposed “bubble” games in Orlando, reports surfaced that Kyrie Irving gathered around 80-plus players for a Zoom call to air their concerns. The Nets star, who already confirmed he won't play due to his shoulder injury, opposed the idea of the league returning amid the current social climate.

In an expletive rant, the one-time NBA champ bared that basketball should take a back seat given the country's current state.

Irving got himself in deeper waters when news broke out that he requested his Nets teammates via their group chat to create their own league. Brooklyn guard Theo Pinson has vehemently denied that Irving made such demands, however.

Wilson Chandler, meanwhile, is one of the few veterans on the Nets roster this season. It's quite understandable that he would display loyalty to his All-Star guard.

Irving played sparingly in his first year with the Nets, averaging 27.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 1.4 steals in 20 appearances.

His bold statements, however, put the Nets franchise in a tough bind, considering they are one of the 22 teams invited back to finish the season. Brooklyn is currently holding the seventh spot in the East with a 30-34 slate.
