Much has been made about Ben Simmons potentially making his Brooklyn Nets soon. As it turns out, however, that might not come in the immediate future.

Previous reports revealed that Simmons is still dealing with a back problem that will keep him out for a few more games. Right now, all eyes are on March 10 when the Nets face the Sixers in Philadelphia. That date is still a little less than two weeks from now, so the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not Simmons will make his debut on that fateful date.

Well, this isn't going to be the case, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Based on what he's heard from his sources, Woj is adamant that Simmons won't be playing his first game in a Nets jersey on March 10th in Philadelphia:

“Ben Simmons, he won't be back this week,” Wojnarowski said (h/t Erin Walsh of Bleacher Report). “We're 12 days away from that March 10 date that everyone in the league is looking at in Philadelphia, Nets-Sixers. I know this: That won't be Ben Simmons' debut. They would not put him in that game as a first game. So either he comes back just prior or perhaps just after. But his return is going to come on the heels of Durant.”

It is important to note that Woj hasn't ruled out Ben Simmons actually playing against the Sixers on March 10. According to Woj, the former Rookie of the Year could actually make his debut before that game. What is clear is that the Nets won't be asking Simmons to play his first game as a Net in his former stomping ground in front of a capacity crowd that will undoubtedly be giving their former star a not-so-warm welcome.

Woj also confirmed in his report that Kevin Durant is indeed close to returning. KD could come back as early as Monday night against the Toronto Raptors. The Nets are in a lot of trouble right now and they could sure use their best player back on the court as soon as possible.
