The Brooklyn Nets recently suffered a big blow as they lost a pivotal piece in Spencer Dinwiddie who went down with a partially torn ACL injury. His absence could cause a big hole on the Nets roster and the team might potentially resort to a former player to get much-needed help especially on the offensive end of the court.

Via Yahoo Sports senior NBA insider Chris Haynes on his podcast:

“But a guy who was supposed to be on this roster, and that's Jamal Crawford. Jamal had– what, he had some– he had a hamstring injury during the bubble. And that kind of hampered what he was able to do in the offseason. But he's somebody that they're still talking to, having conversations.”

Back in July 2020, the Nets gave an opportunity to Crawford and signed him to a contract for the remainder of the 2019-2020 season. He was acquired to provide a lift for the Brooklyn-based squad in the Orlando Bubble where they held the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference.

However, Crawford only played in one game against the Milwaukee Bucks in the seeding games where he posted five points and three assists in six minutes of action on the floor. Without Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets succumbed to a series sweep against the Toronto Raptors in the opening-round proceedings to conclude their brief stint in the bubble.

At this stage of his career, the 40-year-old might not get back to being the flashy playmaker that he once was. However, he can still score baskets and provide veteran leadership for the team aside from Durant and Irving.

Hopefully, Jamal Crawford will still get to have another opportunity on the court and help out a team before he officially hangs his sneakers for good.
