The Brooklyn Nets have homed into former New York Knicks forward Lance Thomas as their potential 16th man in the wake of Wilson Chandler's 25-game suspension, according to Marc Berman of the New York Post.

Thomas, who was recently the longest-tenured Knick, was scrimmaging with some of his former teammates, despite the brass' decision not to re-sign him this summer. The 31-year-old Brooklyn native was among the shortlist of players the Nets envisioned taking Chandler's spot, offering a similar skill set at the power forward position as a capable scorer and rebounder.

The Nets internally mulled the addition of Carmelo Anthony, though it seems players are a lot more willing to bring him in than the front office, who is instead choosing to go with players they have seen up close more recently:

“I will say we will do our due diligence on everybody,” said general manager Sean Marks during Tuesday's press conference, according to SNY's Ian Begley. “We've looked at multiple players, we've brought in several players, whether it was throughout the summer for pickup and they've come in on their own accord. It's documented that guys were playing together in L.A. (with Anthony), so for us, I think we'll use our Exhibit 10s, we'll use training camp in which to try and figure it out, whether it's two-way spots and so forth. We'll use that to figure out where we go.”

Brooklyn has 17 players under contract (15 guaranteed), so the team can add a player during training camp, waive him and then re-sign him five games into the season.
