By this point, it is no surprise that there seems to be a love affair between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn traded their first-round pick in the 2019 NBA Draft as well as Allen Crabbe in a salary dump to open up a second max cap slot and potentially pursue Kyrie, ESPN NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Irving has signed with ROC Nation Sports:

The president of ROC Nation is Michael Yoarmark, who is the twin brother of Nets CEO Brett Yoarmark. On top of that, Memphis radio host Chris Vernon says that the Nets tried to hire former Grizzlies player Mike Miller in part due to his friendship with Irving.

Appearing on The Ringer‘s ‘The Mismatch' podcast, Vernon says that the Nets are rigorously pursuing Irving and seeking every advantage in signing him (transcribed via HoopsHype):

“I’ve talked to a lot of people about this. Brooklyn is all over the Kyrie thing. All over it. They want Kyrie badly. And I think that has been a plan for some time. And I think you saw with that trade when they moved the multiple draft picks and they’re clearing out space. The reason that everybody is reporting that is because that is true. I know at one point, they had even reached out — on a small level — interested in Mike Miller’s [services]. He’s an assistant coach at the University of Memphis for Penny Hardaway. He is also extremelely close friends with Kyrie Irving … They are close, close, close.”

Should the Nets sign Irving, it will bring into question whether or not they elect to bring back D'Angelo Russell, who is coming off a career year and his first All-Star season.
