The Brooklyn Nets are dealing with a full on existential threat for this iteration of the team as we know it. Given the potentially looming departure of Kyrie Irving and the uncertainty surrounding Kevin Durant's future should that happen, the question may soon become ‘When did it all go wrong?'

NBA writer and reporter Logan Murdock shared some insight on the Nets situation in a recent appearance on The Void podcast with Kevin O'Connor. He spoke out on how the situation had already started to grow untenable for months.

“I went out there in March,” said Murdock on the Nets situation. “You could see kind of the seeds. It just wasn't good, man. It didn't seem like just a functioning environment. It didn't seem like this was a team with a plan. It seemed like a team whose plan all kind of went to s–t.”

Murdock also detailed what he felt was Kevin Durant's “biggest beef” with the Nets front office that has turned their relationship frosty.

“I think that his biggest beef is that he didn't feel like the Nets front office grew to try to understand Kyrie. And I would push back and say when a guy leaves for two weeks at a time, Kyrie earns the lion's share of the blame. But I think that Kevin feels like, ‘Hey man, when you guys didn't try to understand this guy, you guys didn't figure out where he was coming from.”

The Nets were dealt a tough hand given the enigmatic behavior that Kyrie Irving exhibited throughout his time in Brooklyn. His close friend in Kevin Durant joined him in making a formidable core with the franchise and he could follow suit if Irving does end up leaving.
