Is Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving's right shoulder injury more serious than we thought? It's possible.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Irving could be out another week or two, possibly even longer than that.

On the season, Irving is averaging 28.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field, 34.1 percent from beyond the arc and 93.7 percent from the free-throw line.

Brooklyn is 4-7 when Irving plays. The Nets are 10-10 on the season, good for seventh place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Nets have to be cautious with Irving since he's the best player on the team. It's a long season and Brooklyn is playing well right now. There's no need to rush Irving back until he's at 100 percent.

It's interesting, though, that Nets head coach Kenny Atkinson said a few weeks ago he didn't think Irving's injury was going to be a long-term issue. Because he's not on the active roster, Irving isn't required to speak to the media, otherwise we could hear from Uncle Drew directly how he's feeling and when he's going to be back.

The Nets take on the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. They are looking to get back in the win column after losing their last game to the Miami Heat.
