According to reports, the main reason why extension talks have stalled between Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets lies in the length of the new deal. The Nets are unwilling to commit to Kyrie long-term — and for good reason — and Irving just isn't having any of that.

Ric Bucher of FOX Sports points out, however, that another major issue blocking the deal is Kyrie's current relationship with Nets head coach Steve Nash. Apparently, Irving just doesn't seem to hold Nash in very high regard:

One of the issues in Brooklyn is Irving’s apparent lack of respect for Steve Nash as a head coach.

Now that's a big problem. If this is actually true then this would explain a lot. If Kyrie does not respect Nash then how do you expect him to play under his system? It's still very much possible that Irving accepts the role Nash gives him, but there's no denying that this lack of respect is going to have a major impact on their relationship moving forward.

Moreover, with Irving being one of the most prominent members of the team, his influence could also affect his Nets teammates. How he feels about Nash could easily be imbibed by other members of the squad, which obviously, is likely going to lead to a huge mess for the team.
