Current Brooklyn Nets forward Sekou Doumbouya is a 20-year-old NBA prospect that's just in his second year in the NBA and hasn't made much noise just yet. But there's reportedly some speculation surrounding the former first-round pick.

Bleacher Report's Jake Fischer revealed that there were some rumblings about whether or not Sekou Doumbouya was truly as old as he claims to be.

Via Fischer's Halftime App live show:

“There is a rumor circling the league that, just like Thon Maker, Sekou is older than his listed age.”

While this is all possibly just speculation without any legitimate sources coming out of the woodwork, Sekou Doumbouya's case wouldn't be the first in the NBA, and especially in professional sports. B/R's Fischer also previously reported on the rumors surrounding former Milwaukee Bucks lottery pick Thon Maker from five years ago.

There were a few more pieces of evidence regarding the Thon Maker conspiracy theories compared to that of Doumbouya. The Ringer's Micah Peters wrote back in 2016 that one Perth resident, where Maker previously resided in, had a yearbook that backed the claims.

“Surprised this has taken so long to come out, I live in the same city in Australia that Maker migrated too (Perth) and one of my friends showed me his older sisters graduation book — which Maker is pictured in and she graduated in 2010/2011 (making her 22–23 this year and most likely him).”

As it stands, the rumors surrounding Sekou Doumbouya are exactly that – rumors. Until some news comes to light, safe to assume that the sophomore is still 20 and better get carded for buying a beer.
