D’Angelo Russell’s two-day basketball camp held at Metuchen came to a close on Sunday. A total of 118 kids attended the event and paid attention to every word the Nets star had to say. At some point, D'Lo tried to inspire the kids on how important it is to work hard in order to become a better basketball player.

However, one of the attendees was already prepared to take the next step. One kid had a chance to play a game of 1-on-1 against Russell, and the youngster quickly showed how he was inspired by the All-Star guard's words.

This is the first-ever youth camp by Russell, one of the NBA's fastest rising stars. He just helped the Brooklyn Nets make it to the playoffs last season, and although they were eliminated in the first round, it gave Brooklyn fans some hope that the team can become NBA champions in the near future.

Unfortunately, that might not happen with Russell still on the team. The 23-year-old combo guard is a free agent and there are rumors that he might not be the priority for the Nets, as the team will reportedly prioritize trying to sign Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving once free agency opens on July 1st. If that happens, the consensus around the league is that Russell will return to the Los Angeles Lakers, the team that drafted him second overall back in 2015.

But D'Lo didn't address any free agency questions during his camp. He was focused on helping kids begin their basketball journey. For him, it might be the first and last time that he will conduct his youth camp in New Jersey.
