Here's a promising sign: Kevin Durant was spotted practicing pull-up jumpers as he continues to recover from a ruptured right Achilles that will sideline him until next season. In the clip posted by The New York Post's Kristian Winfield from the Brooklyn Nets practice facility, we can see KD working on variations of quick pull-ups that require nimble footwork.

The sight is welcome for Nets fans, who received unfortunate news when the team announced Kyrie Irving would undergo season-ending shoulder surgery. Irving will end up playing just 20 games in his debut season in Brooklyn.

This is not the first encouraging glimpse into Durant's rehab we've seen in recent weeks. The 10-time All Star had been seen running and throwing footballs, and looked good working on post-ups and pull-up jumpers earlier this month.

Those clips prompted speculation that Durant could mount a late-season return, but head coach Kenny Atkinson shut that possibility down. Durant and the Nets have been consistent since last summer that he would sit out a year. With Kyrie's injury, there's obviously no reason to rush Durant back.

Despite constant health issues and a record under .500 (26-30), Brooklyn is hanging onto the no. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference. They lead the Orlando Magic (29-32) by two games in the loss column.
