Kyrie Irving proved that “Uncle Drew” still has the clutch gene after delivering in crunch time for the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, giving his team its first triumph of the season with a 113-109 victory over the New York Knicks.

Down by one with under 30 ticks left in regulation, Irving calmly sank a step-back three-pointer at the right wing over the outstretched hand of RJ Barett.

The Brooklyn-New York rivalry was in full swing right at the opening tip, as Irving also figured in a run-in with Bobby Portis right before halftime.

Brooklyn lost its season opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves in heartbreaking fashion, 127-126, in a game where Irving set a franchise record with 50 points in his team debut.

Irving redeemed himself big time after missing the potential game-winner against the Timberwolves.
