Luis Scola just recently joined the Brooklyn Nets on a one-year deal. The veteran Argentinian player, who will represent his home country for the fourth time in this coming Rio Olympics, hopes to help a Brooklyn team struggling to rebuild.

During a press conference to announce the arrival of the junior NBA program to Argentina, Scola talked about moving to Brooklyn:

“I think New York is one of the best cities in the world — a lot of people question New York. They love to visit but not to live. I’m excited. I like to live there, too, but I don’t like the renting prices.”

Living in the Big City is far from cheap. It may be better to find a home outside of the city, but with the Nets leaving their New Jersey practice facility this summer, it looks like Scola's choices are limited.

“It has to be in Brooklyn. How far can you go with the challenge of traffic? It’s a good opportunity for me and my family to live in the middle of the city, doing city life, walking to places, taking buses, riding a bike. Just forget about the car and suburban life and 40-minute drive. It’s going to be fun.”

It's hard to rebuild without having draft picks, and Scola's signing may be a sign that the Nets are willing to build a good basketball culture in the meantime. Hopefully, the team values their new acquisition enough to help the veteran big man find a great place to live.
