The city of New Orleans and the New Orleans Pelicans are trying to do everything in their power to get the NBA All Star Game to come to their city in 2017. The NBA All Star Game is one of the hottest things that come out of an NBA season, including generating attention from celebrities from all and athletes around. The amount of income that the All Star festivities can generate not only for the city, but the local business owners is one of a kind. It provides a city the unique opportunity to not only show off the city but also to host a handful of celebrities.

According to the New Orleans Advocate, the following statements were made by the Pelicans Team President, Dennis Lauscha: The Pelicans and the city of New Orleans are “doing everything that we can” to land the 2017 NBA All-Star Game, team president Dennis Lauscha said on the club's in-house podcast Tuesday.

“However, that in no way, shape or form automatically indicates that we're a front-runner or it's ours to lose or anything else,” Lauscha said. “We still have to perform.”

“Obviously the NBA knows — and so do we and every other community that's participating in this — the sooner the better, just because of the time,” Lauscha said on the podcast. “It's a very short time frame. I mean, this is going to be on us very quickly, so I know they want to get that decided and we want to know so we can start shifting resources and assets to make this a successful game.”

Although they hosted the All Star Weekend back in 2014, they obviously are making a big push to attempt to get the game to return to New Orleans for the upcoming 2016-2017 season as it would once again be a big boost to the city and its economy.
