Following a disappointing 2017 season, the New York Giants find themselves in a unique position of holding the second overall pick in this year's draft. This has immediately placed a plethora of options in front of the front office to choose to do with the high draft selection come late April.

New York has an opportunity to take one of the top talents in this year's crop that could become a huge part of the long-term puzzle That said, new head coach Pat Shurmur has also made it clear that the team is open to the possibility of moving the selection if the right deal comes about, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN.

This new revelation gives way to the notion that the Giants may not be completely set on taking a quarterback with the second overall spot that could see them have likes of USC's Sam Darnold, UCLA's Josh Rosen, Wyoming's Josh Allen, or Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield available at the spot. It also signals that the team may not be completely sold on any of these quarterbacks being the eventual replacement for Eli Manning.

This could also be a ploy to garner a lucrative trade package that would allow them to get a handful of draft picks to possibly slide down a few selections and still grab the player that they desire be it a quarterback or another area of need. The Giants are in the position of benefitting greatly from whatever they choose to do with their selection that could have a major impact on the future of the franchise.

There are just two months until the draft where things could drastically change as teams will have a clearer picture of what they need to target after the free agency period shakes out. Simply put, the closer it gets to the draft the more activity and interest there should be around the league centered on the second overall pick.
