There has been plenty of talk about who's the best player in the 2018 NFL Draft. UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley have not been shy about giving themselves that distinction.

N.C. State defensive end Nick Chubb has now added himself to that list. According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, his confidence is that of a No. 1 overall pick:

“My confidence level is going to say I’m the best player,” Chubb said Saturday. “I feel like I put it on tape in four years. Just putting on tape good film, and I feel like I’m the best player. I’m not going to say one player is better than me. Saquon Barkley put up ridiculous numbers in the past couple of days. Josh Allen, Josh Rosen, just all the quarterbacks you’re hearing about. A lot of great players. I just feel like I’m up there at the top.”

While it may seem a bit cliche, such comments are expected from a consensus top pick in the draft. Unfortunately for Chubb, the prospect of being taken first overall is unlikely due to the quarterback-heavy nature of this year's event. It also goes without saying that the league often favors offensive players in these instances.

Regardless, Chubb still makes a legitimate case as the best player in this year's draft. He won every prestigious honor and award possible for a defensive player while managing to pass former No. 1 pick Mario Williams as the school's all-time sack leader. As a result, there has been plenty of speculation that he will drop no further than third overall due to the reported interest from the Indianapolis Colts.
