Former UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen has been taken with the 10th overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals in the 2018 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

The Cardinals moved up from the 15th overall pick in a trade with the Oakland Raiders, giving up the third and fifth round selections in this year's draft. With the front office signing veteran quarterback Sam Bradford on a one-year, $20 million deal, there won't be the pressure of starting right out of the gate in the 2018 season. Rosen will have the chance to work with a pair of All-Pro talents in wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and running back David Johnson.

Heading into the draft, Rosen was viewed as being arguably the most talented passer among this year's crop of quarterbacks. He possesses a strong accurate arm that allows him to make all the throws necessary at the next level.  He has demonstrated the capability to lead UCLA to success on the field behind his arm.

There have been questions about his strong personality possibly becoming an issue with the coaching staff. These concerns heightened after former UCLA head coach Jim Mora said that he needs to be challenged in order to play up to his capabilities on the field. Nonetheless, Rosen has shown to have the talent on the field behind his arm to become a potential franchise quarterback for the next decade.

In three years at the collegiate level, Rosen finished third in school history with 9.340 passing yards, fourth with 59 touchdown passes, second with 712 completed passes, and third with 1170 passes attempted. He also earned a Second-Team All-Pac-12 honor, Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year award, and Freshman All-American nod.

In the 2017 campaign, he led the Pac-12 in passing yards with 341.5 per game and total offense per game with 332.6 yards. He also set the school records for highest passing yards average per game (341.5), most games passing for 350 yards or more in a season (six), and most consecutive games of 300-plus yards in total offense in a season (five) among others.

He also finished holding the UCLA records for most games passing for 350 yards or more (10), most games passing for 300 yards or more (17), most games with 350 or more yards of total offense (11), and most consecutive games throwing a touchdown pass (14)
