This year's class of tight ends in the 2020 NFL Draft didn't get much attention in the pre-draft process, being labeled as one of the worst position groups in the draft. Nevertheless, the Chicago Bears have selected Cole Kmet out of Notre Dame with the No. 43 pick.

Again, scouts and the media alike haven't shown much interest in this year's class of tight ends. With that being said, Kmet's name has been mentioned among the best available at the tight end position.

For his first two seasons at Notre Dame, Kmet didn't see much time on the field. As a matter of fact, Kmet totaled just 17 receptions for 176 yards and zero touchdowns in his first two seasons.

Then, in his junior and final season with the Fighting Irish, Kmet hauled in 43 passes for 515 yards and six touchdowns. In just his first game as a starter, Kmet contributed nine receptions, 108 yards, and a touchdown versus a talented Georgia defense.

Amid Kmet's final season in college, it was evident that he could thrive as a pass-catcher on offense. Even at 6-foot-6, 260 pounds, Cole Kmet is athletic enough to create some separation from linebackers and safeties.

While he excels as a receiver, Cole Kmet definitely needs to improve as a run blocker. However, given his size, if he can develop a better technique as a blocker, he could become a formidable blocker in the future.

In today's NFL, teams are looking for tight ends that can be another weapon in the passing attack. Without a doubt, Cole Kmet can provide that at the next level and could evolve into a talented tight end in the NFL.
