Because he didn't play last season due to the “coronavirus” pandemic, it was often forgotten this offseason just how impressive former LSU Tigers wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was during his collegiate playing days. However, the Cincinnati Bengals certainly didn't forget as the franchise officially selected Chase at No.5 overall in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday evening.

With current Minnesota Vikings and former LSU wide receiver Justin Jefferson stringing together quite the stellar rookie season in 2020-21, such a campaign could be a sign of things to come for Chase atop the highest level as well.

The 21-year-old wideout stands at an even 6'0″ while weighing around 210 pounds and could not be more ready to take the next step in his playing career. A dynamic pass catcher all over the field no matter where he lines up, Chase can simply do it all from the wide receiver position as the Bengals will surely waste absolutely no time in getting him acclimated to the NFL game.

In what would become his final season at LSU back in 2019-20, Ja'Marr Chase helped lead the Tigers to a national championship victory while serving as the team's top pass-catching target — even ahead of the aforementioned Jefferson. During that memorable campaign, Chase tallied 84 receptions for 1,780 yards and mind-boggling 20 touchdowns. A reliable deep threat week-in and week-out for current Cincinnati Bengals and former LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, the soon-to-be rookie wideout in Chase also averaged 21.2 yards per reception in 2019-20.

Burrow should be plenty excited to reunite with his old college teammate and the Bengals duo of Tee Higgins and Chase should be a breath of fresh air for the Bengals fans. Can Cincinnati make its way to the top of the AFC North in the 2021 season and beyond with one of the scariest offenses in the league?
