As the entire league prepares for the upcoming NFL Draft, Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane revealed his strategy ahead of the draft later this month. According to this article by Kevin Patra of the NFL Network, Beane doesn't intend to use one of Buffalo's early-round picks into drafting a running back.
“I'm not going into this draft going, ‘Man we got to find some back here in the top few rounds or anything like that,'” Beane said, via New York Upstate.
Beane said that he likes their current crop of running backs. He selected two running backs Devin Singletary in 2019 and Zack Moss last season, both in the third round. Furthermore, they added Matt Breida in the offseason. However, Beane's reasoning as to why he is probably going to pass up grabbing a running back early in the upcoming draft may suggest he took a subtle jab at their running back lineup.
There's no way to know what exactly Beane meant with his words. Singletary or Moss could take this the wrong way. Maybe perhaps this could light a fire under their belly and eventually turn into the home run hitters that the Bills are looking for.
