The 2020 NFL Draft set the football world ablaze on Thursday night as one of the biggest “sporting events” on the calendar over the past few months due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

Early picks in the 2020 Draft went, roughly, according to chalk, but that didn’t stop teams from maneuvering digitally by making multiple trades in the first half of the first round. Two teams that made some big moves in the middle of the first round were the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and San Francisco 49ers:

As you can see, the Bucs moved up one spot to No. 13 overall in order to guarantee they could their man on the offensive line, who turned out to be Tristan Wirfs out of Iowa.

Wirfs ascended quickly in three seasons with the Hawkeyes, and the Bucs will surely need his all-around athleticism on the offensive line to help aid the rapidly aging new Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady. Though his longtime pal Rob Gronkowski will also be with the team in 2020, Wirfs should help bolster a roster that will go into the season with extremely high expectations.

For the 49ers, the team is still ahead of schedule due to making it all the way to the Super Bowl in the 2019 season. The 49ers came into draft night with two selections in the first round, so they opted to use that luxury in order to gain further value later on in the draft.

The 49ers selected Javon Kinlaw out of South Carolina at No. 14 overall, a defensive tackle who was ranked as the 9th-best prospect in the draft per ESPN.
