Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young is guaranteed to go within the first three picks of the 2020 NFL Draft. At least, that is how front offices around the league view things.

Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera hinted the team would not trade their No. 2 pick and also alluded to drafting Young, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Young has not been contacted by a single team outside the top three (via Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk):

Washington coach Ron Rivera sent a reasonably strong signal yesterday that he has his mind on Chase Young.

Other teams must have gotten the message.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, no team outside the top three has contacted the Ohio State defensive end lately.

Young was the most dominant defensive player in the country for the Buckeyes last season, racking up a whopping 16.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles in 12 games last season.

Pro Football Focus called Young “the best edge prospect in recent memory,” and it is fairly easy to see why: he has an absurd burst and win rate off the line paired with tremendous strength.

The Redskins are in dire need of playmakers on both sides of the football, but Young would fit right in with their roster and become an immediate playmaker.

Washington ranked 24th in defense-adjusted value over average (DVOA) on the defensive side of the ball both in total and against opposing passing attacks, and Young would relieve some of the onus on the secondary with relentless pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
