Rashan Gary's stock is falling at exactly the wrong time. In the few days leading up to Thursday's first round of the 2019 NFL draft, multiple reports have surfaced that the Michigan defensive lineman is falling down draft boards, and could potentially be available with a selection in the 20s. Someone uniquely suited to assess Gary's game, though, seems to believe any team drafting him outside the draft's first few picks would be getting a steal.

Devin Bush, a likely top-10 pick, told Chris Thomas of the Detroit Free Press earlier this week that he would take Gary, his teammate at the University of Michigan, in front of himself on draft night.

“I’d take him before me,” Devin Bush said. “Just his potential’s crazy. I played with him, but I just know what he’s all about. Teams may be questioning that, but I know.”

Gary, the consensus top prospect in the high school class of 2016, had just nine and-a-half sacks during his three years at Michigan, failing to live up to his recruiting hype despite twice being named First-Team All-Big 10. At 6-foot-4, 277 pounds, he showed out at the NFL combine with a 4.58 40-yard dash, 38 inch vertical leap, and 26 bench press reps, a performance that both cemented his status as perhaps the draft's best overall athlete and sparked more questions about his lack of production for the Wolverines.

Teams have reportedly grown especially wary of Rashan Gary recently due to a shoulder injury that will ultimately require surgery. Expect his name to be called in the first round, even if it's not heard until late on Thursday night.
