The Nebraska Cornhuskers have not performed up to the once-heralded program's typical standards as of late. With the former Big 12 and current Big Ten school faltering over the course of the last several seasons, the Cornhuskers have now made some unfortunate history with the 2019 NFL Draft coming and going over the weekend.

According to Robin Washut of Rivals.com, Nebraska did not have any players drafted for the first time since all the way back in 1963. With the 56-year streak officially snapped, the Cornhuskers did have a few players reportedly sign with NFL franchises after the draft as the program's legacy at the professional ranks will continue in at least some fashion.

While things have not gone according to plan as of late, Nebraska previously reached an NCAA-record 35 straight bowl games between 2003 and 1969, a time period that served as the bulk of the aforementioned NFL Draft streak. While Nebraska last reached a bowl game back in 2016, the Cornhuskers have not won a bowl game since 2015.

As for the 2019 NFL Draft that went on as planned despite the absence of a former Nebraska football player, the annual event took place in Nashville, Tennessee while being hosted by the Tennessee Titans.

Former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray was the first player to come off the board upon being selected by the Arizona Cardinals, which marked the second season in a row that a former Oklahoma signal caller went No. 1 overall.

Not only that, but both Murray and Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield each won the Heisman Trophy in what would become their last go-rounds at the collegiate level.
