Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa were once on the same college team at Alabama, with Hurts transferring to Oklahoma in 2019. Ahead of the NFL Draft, Hurts was asked about his relationship with Tagovailoa, Hurts revealed that he's rooting for him to succeed.

“That’s a relationship that will never go away, die down. Talked to him and kept in touch with him all year. I’m pulling for him, as always.”

As a freshman in 2016, Hurts was named the starting quarterback at Alabama. That would be a position that Hurts would hold for two seasons — until Tagovailoa arrived on campus. In Hurts' junior season, Tagovailoa would supplant him as the starter, causing him to consider his options in 2019.

Despite being benched for Tagovailoa, he and Hurts maintain a strong relationship off of the field. Now, both of them are heading into the next phase of their careers as they enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

For Tagovailoa, it's just a matter of when — not if — he is selected in the first round of the draft. On the other hand, Hurt has seemingly become the next quarterback that is asked to possibly switch positions.

Even though he threw for 3,851 yards, 32 touchdowns, and eight interceptions in his senior season, some NFL teams believe Hurts can't play quarterback at the next level. Nevertheless, Hurts has maintained his composure and is prepared to prove people wrong.

Over the past few years, Hurts and Tagovailoa have created an inseparable bond. Regardless of what happens in the upcoming draft, Hurts will be excited to see his former teammate have his name called in the first round.
