The Philadelphia Eagles have added another weapon to their receiving corps. With the 57th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Eagles selected Stanford wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside.

Arcega-Whiteside's development into a surefire NFL draft prospect gradually took place during his four-year tenure in Palo Alto.

He didn't see the field as a true freshman, but broke into Stanford's rotation at receiver one year later, catching 24 passes for 379 yards and five touchdowns, establishing himself as a reliable target in the red zone. He had 48 catches for 781 yards and nine touchdowns his junior season, putting him on the radar of NFL scouts. As a senior, Arcega-Whiteside was one of the most productive pass-catchers in the country, finishing with 63 catches for 1,059 yards and 14 touchdowns, the latter of which ranked in the top-five nationally.

Philadelphia boasted one of the most impressive collections of receivers in the NFL even before drafting Arcega-Whiteside. The team returns ultra-productive tight end Zach Ertz, star wideout Alshon Jeffery, and electric playmaker Nelson Agholor, whose future with the Eagles seemed uncertain before they picked up the fourth-year option on his rookie contract. Veteran speedster DeSean Jackson is back in Philadelphia, too, on a three-year, $27.9 million contract that was signed in the opening days of free agency.

If Carson Wentz finally manages a full season of health, Philadelphia should have one of the most explosive offenses in football this season. While Arcega-Whiteside may not be a fixture of his new team's passing attack, he'll surely get the opportunity to contribute in the red zone, where his strong hands and 6-foot-2, 225-pound frame make him a big target.
