Former Oregon Ducks quarterback and 2020 NFL Draft prospect Justin Herbert is garnering plenty of attention from a number of teams at the top of the draft.

But while plenty of scouts and evaluators are focused on the tools different players possess, the focus surrounding Herbert has to do with his leadership qualities, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler

Via Garrett Stepien of 247 Sports:

“I'm told the Los Angeles Chargers, the Miami Dolphins and several other teams are meeting with Herbert — and they are focused, in part, on his leadership,” Fowler said. “This is a player who's known as reserved, came from small-town Oregon. So they want to know how's he going to handle a huddle, a locker room.

“And I spoke to one executive who was pleased with the results that he got back on Herbert, because he went and asked some of the wide receivers he played with at the Senior Bowl in late January and he heard nothing but high praise about Herbert's ability to encourage teammates, get them on the right page — all those good things you want from a quarterback. So he's trending in the right direction, heading into late-April's draft.”

Herbert is regarded by most analysts as one of the top three quarterbacks in the draft along with Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa. He led the Ducks to a 12-2 record and a No. 5 ranking in the final AP poll while throwing for nearly 3,500 yards and completing almost 70 percent of his pass attempts.

The Dolphins and Chargers could consider taking quarterbacks in back-to-back picks, as both teams have some uncertainty under center.

Like Burrow, Herbert has experience and maturity as a four-year player at Oregon. Which could be the ultimate determinant in terms of which team he lands with later this month.
