One thing is for sure — former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback and 2018 Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray will be headed to the NFL. However, it remains to be seen as to whether the one-time Oakland Athletics prospect will throw at the upcoming NFL Combine.

Murray recently released a formal statement announcing that he would not be attempting to play professional baseball and would instead be entering the 2019 NFL Draft, where the up-and-coming signal caller is expected to become a first-round pick.

“Severely undersized, one-year starter with rare playmaking talent that could force general managers to reassess long-held notions about size and style for a franchise quarterback,” reads Murray's NFL.com pre-draft profile. “Murray is like a complex burgundy with notes of Baker Mayfield, Johnny Manziel and Russell Wilson in his play, but like any quarterback, he'll need to prove he can recognize disguised coverages and work on-time from the pocket to go from flash talent to playoff winner. Teams drafting him need to have the right coordinator and must be committed to framing their offense specifically to Murray's strengths and weaknesses, which could require additional roster re-configuration. Murray is an electric talent with a live arm, good mental makeup and the skill-set to produce at a high level in the right offense.”

As one can infer from the above paragraph, Murray has a tremendously impressive skill set paired with his glaring lack of size. Nonetheless, it appears as though Murray will still come off the board somewhere inside the first 15 picks come late April.
