There may be no better evaluator of talent for a quarterback than the opposing coach. Nick Saban, Alabama's longtime head coach, praised the likely first overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Monday's episode of ESPN+ program “Detail.”

Per Ben Baby in ESPN.com:

“I think Joe Burrow's got great vision, does a good job with pre-snap reads and knowing where he's going to go with the ball,” Saban said. “He also can extend plays [and] scramble to throw, which I think is really, really important and puts a lot of pressure on the defense. So Joe Burrow's going to have a fantastic career in the NFL.”

Saban, 68, had to gameplan and try to contain the LSU gunslinger this past NCAA season in the SEC, with Burrow and the Tigers beating the Crimson Tide 46-41 in Nov. 2019, contributing to Bama's College Football Playoff hopes dashed. Burrow later led LSU to an undefeated season and a national title in Jan. 2020.

The Heisman Trophy winner this past collegiate season, Burrow is expected to be taken by the Cincinnati Bengals with the first pick in this month's annual NFL draft. Burrow posted scorching numbers en route to a historic season in 2019, throwing 5,671 yards with a 76.3 completion percentage for 60 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 games.

Of course, Saban has his own disciple entered in the draft, as Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa is expected to be taken in the first round this month. As of now, it's unclear who will take Tagovailoa, who injured his hip and had his season ended early for the Crimson Tide in 2019. Both the Miami Dolphins and Los Angeles Chargers have a need at quarterback, while the Washington Redskins, owners of the No. 2 pick and long tied to Ohio State edge rusher Chase Young, could spurn their first-round signal-caller from last year's draft class, Dwayne Haskins, and take Tagovailoa right after Burrow.
