It's officially official: Kyler Murray, considered by most sports commentators to be a top QB pick for the NFL draft, has chosen football over baseball.

Murray took to Twitter to make clear that his sole goal, from this point forward, was to become an NFL quarterback.

He said that football has been his passion for his entire life, and he was finally ready to pursue that passion on a full-time basis. He also said that he'd started an “extensive training program” to prepare himself for NFL tryouts and interviews.

Finally, he closed out the statement by saying that he “looked forward” to proving to NFL decision-makers that he's the franchise quarterback of the league.

According to the New York Post, Kyler Murray choosing football over baseball is “devastating” to the A's, who drafted him as a first-round pick.

“It was originally believed that Murray would play one year of quarterback for the Sooners before embarking on his MLB career. Even Monday morning, A’s manager Bob Melvin was cautiously optimistic Murray would report to the team’s spring training. That will not happen now, with the next crucial step in Murray’s NFL push coming at the NFL’s scouting combine at the end of the month. He instantly becomes the main attraction as he will have to prove to scouts that he can be a star in the league despite being 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds.”

The good news is, Kyler Murray seems to be aware of the challenges he faces, and is ready to face them all in the weeks to come.
